Since 2008, E-auto rickshaws (also known as electric tuk-tuks or tricycles or sweepstakes or electric tricycles) have been used as alternatives to auto-rickshaws and rickshaws.
Compared with rickshaws, they have lower fuel costs and less manpower, so in some cities, they have become more and more popular. They are often used as a substitute for gasoline/diesel/CNG-powered auto rickshaws.
These are three-wheeled vehicles equipped with 650 to1400 watt electric motors. They are mainly produced in India and China, and few other countries produce these rickshaws.
Experts say that battery-powered rickshaws may be a low-emission support tool for low-income people, who are most troubled by vehicle shortages.

E-Rickshaw has evolved from a player in the country’s automotive sector to a leading short-distance solution.
E-rickshaws has been very successful in innovating public services and rickshaw concepts. In addition to meeting environmental needs, E-rickshaws is also a pioneer in a green, pollution-free society.
Since 2008, E-rickshaw has been used as a substitute for manual rickshaws and automatic rickshaws in many Asian countries such as Japan, Nepal, China, and Thailand.
In India, the concept of e-rickshaw was introduced in 2011 and was introduced in Delhi in 2014. The number of rickshaws in Bihar and throughout India has also increased.
Here are the five benefits of E-auto Rickshaws:
- E-rickshaws promotes zero pollution:
One of the biggest advantages of E-rickshaw is that it does not use gasoline or diesel, but is powered by batteries, so when you run Eric Shows, Eric Shows will not emit smoke. Friendly, no harmful fuels are used.
- Better and cheaper service:
E-rickshaw does not require regular maintenance. Compared with ordinary rickshaws, most rickshaws are very durable and have a solid base.
- Low maintenance cost:
E-rickshaw is completely powered by a high-capacity battery, which can be charged at any time in a variety of ways. No need for expensive freight, such as oil or diesel. The use of batteries makes rickshaws much cheaper than traditional rickshaws.
- Smoother and more obvious turns:
E-rickshaw has better turning areas than traditional rickshaws, making them a viable option for busy roads and areas with heavy traffic, remote areas with small roads and often crowded, and urban areas with crowded streets.
Among cars and other means of transportation, Erica plays an important role in saving time and facilitating transportation.
- High wages and low fuel consumption:
It is profitable to own E-rickshaw because there are no fuel costs such as gasoline and diesel, and operating costs are low.
This is a convenient way to travel, which is popular with passengers and brings high income to owners.
E-Rickshaw’s Trend in India:
Although it was introduced to India via the China line in the late 2010s, it was very sporadic and did not spread.
This promotes a more environmentally friendly transportation industry, especially in second and third-tier cities.
The E-auto rickshaw market is gaining momentum and may conquer more in the next few years with established players in this segment. The actual sales value of Eric Shows in India is given in the appendix.
Design and construction:
These rickshaws have a tubular M.S (mild steel) chassis consisting of three wheels with differential gears on the rear wheels. The motors are brushless DC motors, mainly produced in India and China.
The electrical system of the India version is 48V, and the Bangladesh version is 60V.
The most popular Chinese version of the shell is made of very thin iron or aluminum plates. It is popular for its strength and durability, which requires maintenance, especially in India.
The body structure ranges from luggage racks and light vehicles without a roof to a complete body with a windshield to improve driver comfort.
It consists of a control unit. Their sales are based on the voltage and current applied at the output and the number of MOSFETs (metal oxide field-effect transistors) used.
Mainly uses lead-acid batteries with a life span of 6 to 12 months. The deeply discharged batteries of electric vehicles are rarely used. The weight of electric vehicles is also a long-standing design issue.
Disadvantages of E-auto rickshaws:
- Slow speed:
E-rickshaw Slow speed is usually very slow-about 3035 km/h. You can’t keep up with the speed of the auto rickshaw. Therefore, this is not the best way to avoid in an emergency.
- Lighter in their weight:
The lighter E-rickshaw is relatively light, so it cannot carry any higher weight. If it exceeds the allowable weight, the rickshaw may always tip over. In India, motorists drive overburdened electricians.
- There is no correct rules and regulations:
Rules and regulations There are no correct rules and regulations for tricycle drivers. Therefore, the drivers are not sufficiently trained to drive these Erik performances. Most of them don’t even have a driver’s license. This is a serious problem.
Types of E-rickshaws:
Load carriers: These are load sporting variations of those rickshaws that fluctuate their higher body, load sporting capacity, motor strength, controller, and different structural aspects, every so often motor strength is likewise expanded as a way to bring masses as much as 500–1000kg.
Solar: Directly powered by solar energy, equipped with solar panels. Direct solar rickshaw is an electric automatic rickshaw that is powered by only one or more electric motors and powered by onboard solar panels, which can be operated while driving.
Theoretically, solar panels can directly power motors without the need for batteries, but in reality, given their intended use, this is unlikely to be a rickshaw design. They are not used often.
In practice, the term solar rickshaw is most commonly used to describe rechargeable electric rickshaws whose batteries are indirectly charged by solar energy before use (that is, independent of the vehicle). The battery is charged.
Alternatively, the battery can be charged locally when the vehicle is parked, but this will limit its use during the day. Of course, the same on-site and battery replacement technology also applies to batteries and non-solar-powered vehicles.
E-rickshaw in India:
The Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute first tried to manufacture electric rickshaws in the late 1990s. In India, these so-called rickshaws are common throughout the country and became popular around 2011.
The E-rickshaw plays an important role in the livelihood of the Indian people today.
Because of their low cost and high efficiency, they are accepted on the streets of India, but government policy has endangered E-rickshaws and banned them from being used in the capital Delhi, but they have not been allowed to leave the streets.
E-auto rickshaws continue to gain weight, and it is common in Delhi and other parts of India.
India’s E-auto rickshaw Law:
The production of E-rickshaws was initially not regulated by Indian Central Law, but on July 31, 2014, the Delhi Supreme Court banned the operation of E-rickshaws in Delhi on the grounds of collecting security issues arising from public interest litigation.
At the rickshaw optimization rally in Delhi, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari stated, “Municipal companies will simplify rickshaws by charging only £100 to register rickshaws. Once the rickshaws are registered, companies must issue credit cards. Drivers make it easy for them to make a living. “
Once the policy is implemented, the company will work with the traffic police to determine the number of fines for violating the policy, but the policy has not been implemented. Pass local laws. Or national law.
In March 2015, the Indian Parliament passed an amendment to the Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2015 to legalize Erica. Since July 2015, E-auto rickshaws have been used for travel in many cities, and R.T.O. with insurance can now be used.
