Ride-hailing platform Ola announced that it is building the world’s largest ola electric scooter factory. Ola ‘FutureFactory’, with an annual production capacity of 1 billion vehicles and will be put into operation in 2022.

Ola said that the total area of ​​the facility is 500 acres, and its mega block will reach 43 acres. According to Ola, production will account for 20% of the current global two-wheeler production capacity.

The plant will create 10,000 direct jobs and additional jobs for Ola’s suppliers.

Bhavish Aggarwal, president, and CEO of the group said that the first phase will be completed, with an initial annual production capacity of approximately 2 million people in June of this year.

He stated that the fourth phase of the facility will be completed in 2022, with an annual production capacity of 1 billion.

Aggarwal told the media that the facility is built on more than 500 acres of land in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, and the scooter is activated at full capacity every two seconds.

“It will have 10 full-load production lines. This will be the most advanced two-wheel factory with 3,000 artificial intelligence robots based on the principles of Industry 4.0,” he said.

It will be an integrated manufacturing facility that can meet all requirements, including batteries, paint shop, welding, motors, final assembly, pre-made food, and a fleet of two suppliers.

Ola said the facility is environmentally friendly: there is a giant solar-powered block on the roof. The facility is powered by solar and renewable energy and has a negative carbon footprint.

The giant block has a central forest of 2 hectares and a forest of 100 hectares on site. The trees were planted during the Baus period and protected by transplantation.

Rs 2,400 crore have been invested in the construction of the next Ola plant. The company stated that the project is ready for the first phase of operations.

The planned working time for the construction of the plant is approximately 10 million man-hours.

The fully functional facilities will comply with Industry 4.0 standards. The annual installed capacity of the first phase is 10 million electric scooters and the production capacity is 2 million per year.

The facility will have a total of 10 people and will be able to run a scooter every two seconds and run 25,000 batteries a day.

These Indian-made scooters are exported to Europe, the United Kingdom, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand, and sold in India.

Earlier this year, Ola posted photos of his new scooter. This Energy Appscooter-based model has removable batteries, LED lighting, alloy wheels, telescopic forks, digital dashboards, and more.

The scooter uses PMS motors and is expected to have a cruising range of approximately 150 kilometers without charging.

You can also get a cloud connection and fast charging after startup. The ola electric scooter factory also plans to build the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network over time, with 100,000 charging centers in 400 different cities.
